Thank you Tracy! You are talented and fabulous.

This last week has been good:)

On Monday Tracy took anniversary pictures of Kev and I, my parents stopped by to say hi, and Tracy, Bob, Kev, and I barbecued a very yummy dinner...after dinner I forced Bob and Tracy to watch old home videos of me when I was little... Kinda funny.

On Tuesday me and mom had a girls day! We went t see Body Worlds at the California Science Center and went to lunch. We had a good time, I love hanging out with her.

Today, I had a job interview...and they already called back...I GOT THE JOB! It is official, Kevin and I both have jobs next year, a true blessing and big weight lifted off of our shoulders. He will return to Waite teaching 8th grade History and I will be teaching single subject math at Imperial. I'm so happy. This afternoon we went to watch the Angel game with Aaron and Jena, and then went swimming at Jena's...so nice. This evening Kev and I spent time at my grandmas. We had the chance to say goodbye to Uncle Bobby, Aunt Lynn, "Great" Aunt Mary, Bear, and Blake. They are visiting from Florida. I love to see them, I wish they lived a lot closer. Kev and I are hoping we can go there and visit before the end of the year. I had a good conversation about investing money with my Uncle Bobby, so now I'm super excited and extremely motivated to figure out how all of this financial stuff works:)

Saturday...July 19, 2008

Today was the day... the CSET. I spent the morning stressing out and studying, and Kevin spent the morning helping me relax, feeding me, and working around the house. The test started at 1:30 and I wasn't finished until 5:30. Four hours of geometry, probability, and statistics. The test was hard, I think I did okay. I get the results on August 18th (my brother Jonathan's birthday). If I pass I will be the happiest girl on the planet.
After the test we went to my grandma's house. I have family down from Florida, and I love to see them. I wish they lived closer. My cousin Vicky is moving to Oregon, so we got to say goodbye to her too. I hope she loves it there. My cousin Bobby just got engaged to Tiffany. I'm super excited for them. Her ring is beautiful. She will be an awesome addition to the family.
After we left my grandmas we went home to take care of Parker and then headed to the Norred's for Mark's 50th birthday party. We had a ton of fun. It was 50's themed, and we enjoyed good company, dancing, scooby snacks, and some classic old pics of Mark. We didn't get home until 4a.m. if that gives you any idea of how much fun we had... Thank you Pam for the ride home.

Friday...July 18, 2008

Tula (aka Allison Anderson) and I started out the weekend early with a 7a.m. trip to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. We had a ton of fun and bought a lot of great stuff (I have been saving for this sale for months). My favorite purchase: a new oversized Juicy Couture handbag. Allison's favorite purchase: a pair of adorable Coach shoes. I also got a head start on Christmas shopping! After the sale we went to lunch at Millie's. My lunch was very tasty. I love doing things with Tula, we always have the best converstions. When I got home from the sale, Kevin left to go golfing with Mike Clark, Mike Liberto, Aaron, and Dustin. They had a good time, but the course was so backed up, they had to leave after the first nine holes and get a rain check to play the back nine. I spent the rest of the day studying for the CSET. I am working towards obtaining my Foundational-Level Mathematics Credential, and there is a series of brutal math tests you have to pass. Ugh.

...what we've been up to this summer...

We had a very long, event filled Fourth of July weekend. On the 3rd we went to La Mirada Regional Park to see the fire works show. On the 4th we spent the day at Jena's house swimming, eating, drinking, and playing a balongo (I have no idea if that's how you spell it) tournament... it was soooooo much fun. Jena and I almost took first place. That night we came home to be with Parker during fireworks (she did great) and then enjoyed time at the Norred's. We ended the weekend by going to Miller's house... Jackie and Ollie hosted a little get together to watch the fight...I'm not really into the actual fight, but it was fun to get together. Kev and I love Jackie and Ollie. They are two of the sweetest people we've ever met!

Seeing plays/musicals is a new found enjoyment of ours. Kevin and I went with his uncle David Knowles and Ken Breeding to see 1776 in a little theater in L.A. not too long ago and recently my grandma and I went to see Wicked at the Pantages Theater. Both musicals were absolutely fabulous!

The Zurn/Soto wedding was a great way to end the month of June. We all had so much fun! We got to meet Rob's girlfriend Kara and Brandon's girlfriend Gina...both super sweet, adorable ladies! We wish Tom and Susan all the best!

My best friend from high school, Natalie Lopez is getting married in September, so I've been going to showers, and now we're getting ready for her bachelorette party the first weekend of August. Vegas here we come!

RIVER TIME 2008...

Parker had a blast at the river, but a full week was a bit long for her. She was a pooped out pup by the end of the trip. Jena, Allison, and Rob came up and kept me company while Kev was finishing up the school year, we had no boat, but we still had fun:) When Kev came back up, he brought Bob and Tracy with him, we had a great time...to say the least. We're looking forward to our two week river trip in August!

Joining the blog bandwagon

With inspiration from Tracy and Allison, I decided to jump on the blog bandwagon and start our "Barr Family" blog (our adult version of myspace??!). I hope this gives us a better chance to stay in touch with friends and family we see far too infrequently!
